After a year of introspection, scaled down activities, revisiting and re-imagining our company vision and values, and investing in capacity building our team, Pickle Factory is ready to step into our ninth year with new energy, new plans, new partners, new projects locating ourselves in a good as new, renovated space. And to help us realise all these wonderful ideas, we reach out to old and new Pals to support us once again. Become a Pickle Pal for 2026-27, and help us continue to create vibrant and varied homes for dance.

Here’s a snapshot of what your support will enable in 2026-27?

  1. Activating the Ranan Workspace as a community hub
Offering our renovated space as a resource to practitioners and presenting regular programmes ranging from works in progress to screenings to talks
  2. Capacity building the PF team
Hosting regular workshops and participatory sessions facilitated by thought leaders from various fields to equip our team with both enhanced skills and rooted values to help the company develop professional, ethical practices that are grounded in the arts.
  3. Our series of workshops for educational NGOs under our Arts4All initiative
Creates arts access and engagement opportunities in marginalised or NGO schools by curating workshops, programmes or shows for them by a range of local, national & international artists.
  4. @Home – a sampling of art, dance, music and food hosted by and for Kolkata’s art lovers
Co-curated with our partner Ponder Alt, this series takes artists into the cosy comfort and hospitality of peoples’ homes, where small audiences can meet artists up close and delve into their processes and work. Here’s more on the @Home sessions so far.
  5. Watch & Talk Dance
Curated in consultation with Preethi Athreya and Urmimala Sarkar Munsi, this series of screenings with related lectures and discussions invites participants to view and engage with dance through multiple lenses to develop criticality, build discourse, create more informed practitioners and audiences, and nurture a culture of dialogue.
  6. Scratch! – a showcase of works in progress
To support artists in sharing early versions of their work, and facilitate audience engagement and feedback, we present Scratch! using the robust Das Feedback Methodology to generate insightful, critical and constructive feedback for the artists to take back into their work
  7. Pickle Factory Season 6
Scheduled for February-March 2027, Pickle Factory Season 6 will attempt to re-find, re-balance and re-make connections in a broken world by seeking and foregrounding alternative narratives and ways of being – ways humanity may have forgotten or may need to imagine and create towards a more sensitive and sustainable future.

A big thank you to our Pickle Pulse, Pals, Patrons and Pioneers for 2025-26.

You have sent in your contributions and expressions of solidarity from across India to help us keep going. This has enabled us to

  • support a small part time team
  • programme intimate and regular engagements with local and visiting artists in Calcutta
  • consolidate company structure and systems
  • refurbish our workspace into a resource for movement artists working in the city
  • plan towards larger programmes in 2026-27, as we build back slowly but surely

And if you would like to contribute with anything else – time, resources, space, expertise… – please do drop us a line.
