Through movement, we will navigate the kalavantulu’s dual worlds—her sacred ties to the temple and her stately presence in the court—while examining the forces of the zamindari system and her delicate dance with local societies. We will peel back the layers of caste and colonialism, and the profound shifts wrought by Sanskritization and Brahminization, asking how these forces shaped her being.
What was her place in the fervour of nationalism? How do we witness the rise of neo-classical forms through her gaze?

Each dance piece will unearth how history, body and technique intertwine, offering a richer understanding of the kalavantulu tradition and culture as a mirror to the woman—and the man—within the larger Indian psyche and society.

Each day will unfold in three segments:

1. Delving into the intertwined histories of the Court, Temple, Zamindari, Sabhas, and Cinema, alongside the dance traditions of the Kalavantulu, the hereditary singer-dancer women, tracing their journey to the emergence of neo-classical dances.  
2. Examining this history through the lens of a single song from the Kalavantulu’s repertoire, exploring its reflections on gender, caste, class, and geography.  
3. Engaging in a free-flowing dialogue through movement, rooted in the body’s natural rhythms.
