ARTS & COMMUNITY
Whether viewed or practised, the performing arts are vital to strengthen our capacity to feel, empathise and imagine. They celebrate what is most human in us and provide a platform for our desire to create and communicate. With this conviction, the Pickle Factory Dance Foundation has a deep commitment to reaching as many communities as possible, offering students and various communities opportunities of high quality engagement with the arts that shift perceptions, open up windows, and nurture human understanding.
Our programmes
Our outreach programmes follow two major strands:
- OUTWARD: taking artists into schools and communities through a range of workshops, demonstrations, interaction experiences and performances
- INWARD: bringing communities who do not usually have access, into venues to view performances and engage with the artists in post-show conversations. The workshops focus on opening up imaginations and possibilities of enjoyment and experience rather than on transferring skills, leaving many avenues for development after the workshop is over. Each performance experience is designed with a special pre-performance briefing to enable entry points into the performance.
