What was it
about ? 
The association between Kolkata Centre for Creativity which began in 2018 during Season 1 continued as we conceived of a platform for emerging dancers and choreographers in performance at their premises. A few months down the line in 2020 since the pandemic had struck, things were looking up in the city. Spaces – though restricted – were opening up and people began to venture out a little more. As KCC returned to programmes in their spaces, we continued our previous year’s collaboration and presented young kathak dancer Samila Bhattacharya as part of this emerging dancers’ platform. This performance was incorporated into KCC’s annual 2-day conference themed ‘Women in Performance’.

Artists
On 9 January 2022, Kolkata Centre for Creativity in collaboration with Pickle Factory hosted the “Emerging Artist” performance where Ankita Duttagupta performed her solo piece ‘I AM’.
“I AM” thought provokingly demonstrated the validation we as individuals seek in society, how there are masks we wear while navigating through the mundane but told demonstrated through movement that in the end we are enough by ourselves, the way we are should suffice.
The performance was followed by an interaction with Kathakali Jana where she asked Ankita the motivations that led to the performance and her journey till now as a dancer.
We continued our previous year’s collaboration with Kolkata Centre for Creativity, presenting young kathak dancer Samila Bhattacharya as part of this emerging dancers’ platform. This performance was incorporated into KCC’s annual 2-day conference themed ‘Women in Performance’. The event presented its own challenges in terms of production as well as broadcasting to the public as we had to go ahead with the option of ‘deferred live’. It was shot with a skeleton crew, in an empty gallery as the dancer danced her way, breaking the shackles of being homebound. The excitement of being able to perform again was visible
